The holiday season is fast approaching, and here at BeechTree, we’re centrally located to take advantage of a wide range of the most exciting seasonal events across the D.C. metropolitan region. Read on to learn about the events we’re most looking forward to.

The 2018 National Christmas Tree Lighting

November 28  |  4:30 PM – 12:00 AM

The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony draws thousands from across the country to see the massive Christmas tree raised outside the White House come alive with the spirit of the season. And although the opening ceremony is on November 28, that night is just the start of three weeks of celebration and holiday music in the nation’s capital. Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center  |  National Harbor, MD
Now – January 1

The Gaylord’s signature holiday attraction, this family-friendly indoor winter wonderland features over two million pounds of ice sculptures and displays. Watch Charlie Brown rediscover the meaning of Christmas as the beloved story unfolds through hand-carved ice sculptures. It also features four two-story-tall ice slides and a full ice sculpture nativity scene. Watch a video preview and get tickets 

Holiday Boat Parade
Alexandria, VA, to The Wharf, Southwest D.C.
December 1  |  5:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Every year, a spectacular parade of boats decked out in vibrant holiday lights cross the Potomac River. Setting off from Alexandria, VA, the procession crosses the river to the Wharf, D.C.’s most exciting new waterfront destination, complete with shops, restaurants, music venues and more. Watch the parade from 
Alexandria or The Wharf and enjoy family fun and holiday-themed activities on either shore. At the end of the parade, the event is capped off with fireworks over the river.

The National Zoo  |  Washington, D.C.
Now – January 1

Enjoy a “wild” holiday experience with an after-hours visit to the National Zoo. This popular annual event illuminates the National Zoo with more than 500,000 festive (and environmentally friendly) holiday lights. You can send a holiday greeting to your favorite zoo animals as well as enjoy a trackless holiday train tour of the zoo, live music, animated light displays, seasonal treats and much more!
